HOW TO PLAY

Start here.

YOU’LL NEEDNothing
  1. 1Choose a turn order. The first player names a country. Each turn adds just one word, phrase, or country to the chain.
  2. 2With an odd number of players, alternate country → related word → country. Example: Italy → pizza → United States → jazz → France.
  3. 3With two players or another even number, use country → related word → related word → country. Example: Italy → pizza → Ninja Turtles → United States. The Turtles live in New York City.
  4. 4Each new link only needs to connect to the last answer. Explain the connection if someone asks. Personal travel memories count; a surprising link is a chance to hear a story.
  5. 5Stuck? Ask for a hint, pass, or pause to look it up together. Play for ten minutes, then finish the chain at the next country. There’s no score.

REMIX THE RULES

Complete twists.

Country deep diveName a country, then take turns naming things connected to THAT country, not to the previous word. With two players, give four associations; with three or more, give as many associations as there are players. The next player names a new country linked to the final association. Repeat with the new country. No country or association may repeat during this round. If nobody can make the final bridge, end the round and choose a new starting player.
Deep-dive example, two playersItaly → Rome → gondolas → pasta → pizza → United States. Every association before the new country connects to Italy; pizza is the bridge to the United States.
State hopReplace countries with US states. Example: New York → pizza → Chicago → Illinois. Keep the same turn pattern and explain surprising connections.
